The Beginning
Blue Marlin began in 1990 off the north-west coast of Lombok, in Gili Trawangan. Simon Liddiard, a dive instructor, came to the Gili’s and fell in love with the island and its pristine underwater world. Over the years, Simon started to explore new dive destinations on Ikan Biru setting sail from the Gili islands. It wasn’t long before he dived in Komodo and was amazed by the underwater world. In 2012 after many dive trips to Komodo Labuan Bajo opened.
Simon and his team, by this time, had discovered many dive sites in the national park such as Police Corner and Western Tatawa Besar. Blue Marlin also wanted to offer something different to the rest of the dive operators in the area with the liveaboard hop on/ hop off concept as well as using a fast boat for day trips to reach dive sites quickly.
